Jannabi Das, a shortlisted contestant of Indian Idol Season 11 will be seen in tonight’s episode. Jannabi has managed to impress all the three judges in the audition round with her unconventional style of singing and will surely be treated to watch on the Indian Idol.
Born in a family with Bengali theatre and music family, Jannabi is well versed in Hindi, Punjabi and English music besides Bengali. What is great about her is that despite being from a Bengali family she holds good command over Hindi as well many other languages and has sung jingles for many ads and web series in English Tamil, Kannada, Telugu since 2009.
Jannabi finds her unconventional singing a key to winning the hearts of her audience. Most recently she sang the title song for the famous web series TVF: The Timeliners. Before participating in Indian Idol she was in the top 10 on a singing reality show on Colors Infinity TV.
She has to her credit playback voice work for Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra, Soha Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Raveena Tandon, Karishma Kapoor due to her impressive and unconventional singing style.
On the commercial front, she was part of projects for T Series, Universal Videos and has been part of a reputed international fusion band with Swaransh Mishra, Suroor, Tarkash, Rocknama, etc. Moreover, she also had the honour of contributing and performing with House of Symphony and The Neemrana Foundation.
In academics, she holds a junior diploma from Prayag Sangeet Samiti (Allahabad) and has learned Indian classical music from Padma Bhushan Sri Pandit Rajan Sajan Mishra Ji and Sri Pandit Raj Burba Ji. She is a specialist in international marketing and a graduate in B.com (Hons.), both from Delhi University.
