The two most famous social media apps used all over the world – Instagram and Whatsapp, as known by few people, are the sub-brands of Facebook. Since the time Instagram and Whatsapp have been taken over by Mark Zuckerberg in 2012 and 2014 respectively, these apps have been allowed to function separately.
But, from the last few years, as it can be seen, Facebook is not leaving any chance to make Instagram and Whatsapp less independent. It is constantly taking measures to gain full control over the two apps. On Friday, 2nd August 2019, the huge social network gave confirmation regarding the rebranding of Instagram and Whatsapp.
And guess what? The apps will be renamed by Facebook and it will add its own name to them. So lets welcome and say hello to the new names of Instagram and Whatsapp which will be “Instagram from Facebook” and “WhatsApp from Facebook” respectively, displaying their parent company’s name far more prominently.
The main objective behind rebranding of these apps is that Facebook wants its ownership and success to be recognized all over the world. A Facebook spokesperson told The Information, “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook.”
The new names which are “Instagram from Facebook” and “WhatsApp from Facebook” will appear in Apple’s App Store and Google Play. According to the report, the new names will be visible only on the pages of app store on both Android and iOS.
On the home screen of your device, as of now, the name for each app will thankfully remain the same. But it’s also very probable that you will see “from Facebook” on the splash screen for both the apps. However, no information has been provided yet regarding any new feature added from the Facebook app.
