Earthquake of 6.3 Magnitude Hit India-Pak Border | 5 Deaths Reported

A 6.3 Richter Scale Magnitude earthquake occurred in the National Capital Region- New Delhi. The earthquake jolted many regions in North India and in some places it lasted for nearly 30 seconds. 5 people died and 50 got injured according to recent reports. The deaths were on Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The injured include children and women who had been injured due to building collapse from the earthquake. They have been shifted to hospitals.

Apart from New Delhi, tremors were felt in Mussoorie, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Pithoragarh, Mathura, Rishikesh, Shamli and Chandigarh. The deaths and injuries were mostly from Mirpur city from Pak occupied Kashmir. In several places in Pakistan such as Islamabad, Lahore, and Khyber Pakhtun region also felt the tremor.

Within minutes of the earthquake, twitter flooded with the photographs and videos of the unfortunate event. In Jammu and Kashmir under the Indian Government have faced no damage according to DG Dilbagh Singh. Pithoragarh a western Himalayan town in Uttarakhand is found to be the epicenter of the earthquake. This is not fixed yet and there are different talks about the epicenter. It is said to be Rawalpindi by some other sources.

According to the meteorological department of India, the Magnitude is 6.3. The earthquake occurred 92 KM away from Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

The tremor was felt at approximately 4:31 pm Indian time. Earthquakes were felt very strongly in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Udhampur, and parts of Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir. In India, the highest intensity of the earthquake was felt at Jammu and Kashmir adjoining Pakistan.
