A no. of movies have been going for direct OTT release due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. The next in line could be the Malayalam movie “Thuramukham.”
The principal photography for the film was completed in January 2020, but Covid delayed the postproduction. Later, when the first wave was dying down, makers had scheduled to release it in May 2021, but then the second wave hit the country hard, and so the release was further postponed till June-July, 2021. In 2021 the film had been premiered at the 2021 International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Thuramukham OTT Release Date and Digital Rights:
There is no confirmed official date, but there is a high probability that Amazon Prime will drop in the film for a July release.
Thuramukham: Cast and Crew
The film stars Nivin Pauly in the lead role of Mattancherry Moidu. Besides him, Poornima Indrajith, Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Sudev Nair, Manikandan R. Achari, Arjun Ashokan, and Darshana Rajendran will also be playing important roles.
The film is directed by Rajeev Ravi, written by Gopan Chidambaram, and produced by Sukumar Thekkepat. The score for the film has been given by K.
Thuramukham: Premise
The film is based on the famous protests against the ‘chappa’ system practiced in the Cochin harbor during the 1950s.
