Television actress Sejal Sharma allegedly committed suicide at her residence on Mira Road in the neighboring Thane district of Maharashtra, police said on Saturday.
A 25-year-old actress famous for her role as Simmy Khosla on the television show ‘Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji’ was found hanging from the ceiling of her rented apartment in the Royal Nest society on Mira Road (east), by a friend in the early Friday hours, according to the official.
Sharma was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival, she added.
Police recovered a suicide note, in which the actress declared that she was taking extreme measures due to personal reasons, the official said.
A native of Udaipur in Rajasthan, Sharma had come to Mumbai a few years ago to pursue a career in acting, and was working on the television series “Dil Toh Happy Hain Ji,” he said.
He had also worked in some commercials and a web series entitled “Azad Parindey”.
After an autopsy, the actor’s body was handed over to his family for the last rites, the official said, adding that an accidental death case was recorded at the Mira Road police station.
Verma, who played Sejal Sharma’s brother on the show, also told the portal: “His family discovered the news today morning, but I think he killed himself last night. His family has taken the body to Udaipur for last rites. ”
Sejal Sharma, who is from Udaipur, came to Mumbai in 2017 to pursue a career in acting. Before his debut on the Star Plus show “Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji”, he appeared in some commercials. He also appeared in a web series entitled “Azad Parindey”.
