With less than two months away from release, Netflix’s highly anticipated second season The Witcher series has dropped. Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivia, returns in the final chapter of his perilous journey with Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan).

The new trailer for The Witcher Season 2 gives us a glimpse of the larger scale the series is on now, compared to Season 1. The action seems to have improved considerably, and Henry Cavill’s Geralt seems to be tackling more monsters this time around. Through some sweeping shots and some integral character moments, this new trailer is set to Kanye West’s “Monster”.

The Witcher Season 1 debuted in December 2019 and the series became an instant hit for Netflix. The series was renewed for a second season a month before its premiere, but suffered a number of pandemic shutdowns during production.

Based on the fantasy series of novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix’s The Witcher follows a rental monster named Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill. Here’s the Official Synopsis for Season 2 of The Witcher:

Geralt of Rivia is convinced that Yennefer’s life was lost in the Battle of Sodden and takes Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. As the kings, elves, humans and demons of the continent strive for supremacy beyond the walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses within.

Henry Cavill’s The Witcher returns for its second season on December 17.
