The Serpent’ is a crime drama serial based on the life story of Charles Shobhraj, a murderer, a thief, and the lord of disguise who was on a hippie trail of Southeast Asia murdering tourists between 1975-1976. Shobhraj committed a dozen murders for which he was imprisoned from 1976 to 1997 in India. He was so cunning that he ensured his celebrity status much before his release, which created an urge to know him. Hence, in 2021, Tom Shankland came up with ‘The Serpent’ to quench the thirst of the audience and discover the 20th century’s most notorious serial killer’s mind.
The Serpent was co-produced by BBC one and Netflix and showed Tahar Rahim playing the role of Charles Shobhraj and Jenna Coleman as Marie Andree Lecleric. The Series had eight episodes and had been originally released on 1st January 2021.
The Series was mostly appreciated by the audience and received positive responses; Fans even called it one of the best works by BBC to date. One thing which many people found problematic was the trope of jumping back and forth in time. But despite this, there was much to which could leave fans craving for a second season.
When is The Serpent Season 2 releasing?
The Serpent was based on the real-life story of a serial killer Charles Shobhraj which ended showing him in Nepal, where he gets arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. Since Season 1 has already touched upon all the aspects of Charles’s life, especially the murders, Not much has been left to tell, for which Season 2 could be made. Unless a hypothetical story is conjured up and released as ‘The Serpent’ Season 2, it’s highly unlikely that the makers will be coming up with a new Season.
Moreover, no such announcement regarding Season 2 has been made to date.
