Siddhart is one of India’s most successful actors. After a break caused by the Covid lock-downs, he is returning to the silver screen in 2021, in a big way. One of the most anticipated projects he will star in is the upcoming movie Maha Samudram, which is expected to be released on October 14th this year.
New Movie: Maha Samudram
Siddharth will be the star of the upcoming action-drama Maha Samudram. This film is directed by Ajay Bhupathi (who previously directed only one movie, RX100) and is described as an “intense love story”.
The other star of the movie is Sharwanand, and the lead female roles will be portrayed by Aditi Rao Hydari and Anu Emmanuel. In other roles we will see Garuda Raam, Jagapathi Babu, and Rao Ramesh. The actual shooting of the movie was finished already in July, and Maha Samudram is now in a post-production phase, which was prolonged by the lock-down.
This will be Siddharth’s first Telugu movie after a gap of nine years! The anticipated hit film is produced by Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainments, and the musical score is composed by Chaitan Bharadwaj.
The film was, according to original plans, planned to be released on August 19th, 2021. Unfortunately, this needed to be postponed to October.
Siddharth’s Busy Year
Siddharth has been very productive this year. Earlier, he announced on Twitter that he will star in four more movies in Tamil that will be released in 2021.
He is also working on the ambitious international production of the web series Escaype Live. The tech-thriller, which is directed by Abhishek Sengupta and Siddharth Kumar Tewary. It is produced under the banner of Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s One Life Studios.
In addition to that, in cooperation with Mani Ratnam, Siddharth is working on an anthology movie for Netflix. The film will be directed by Rathindran Prasad, and it will star Parvathy Thiruvothu.
This will indeed be a very busy year for Siddharth. The last movie in which he starred was released in 2019. This was the Tamil supernatural horror-thriller Aruyam, in which Siddharth portrayed a food safety officer.
The very next movie we will see him in will be Indian 2. In this Tamil action thriller, he will act along with Kamal Haasan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Kajal Aggarwal.
A Successful Career
As you can see, Siddharth Suryanarayan, or simply Siddharth, stars in productions made in different languages: Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, English, and Malayalam. He is one of only a few Indian actors who have an enthusiastic fan base in all of these language groups.
This is one of the reasons why this talented actor, singer, producer, and composer had so much success. Let’s take a quick look at some of Siddharth’s best movies so far.
Jigarthanda (Cold Hearted, 2014)
Often considered to be the best Siddharth’s film so far, this Tamil language crime drama tells a story about an assistant director (Siddharth), who gets a chance to make a film about a real-life Madurai-based gangster called Sethu (Bobby Simha). In the comedy of errors that follows, it will turn out that Sethu is quite different than he seems at first sight. Quite a nice movie to watch on your cozy Friday night.
Striker (2010)
Striker was the first Indian film to be released at the same time in theaters as well as on YouTube. The movie is centered on the character Surya, who is a passionate carrom-board player, who started winning very young. This passion leads him into an exciting conflict with a local mafia boss. The unusual movie offers you a glimpse into what was the illicit gambling scene of India and its dangers. Still, this movie was released 11 years ago, and the gambling world in India has changed quite a bit since then. Today, things have become much lighter on the players as land-based venues are in very good shape and the online casino market is also on the rise. Rang De Basanti managed to move the masses against the systemic political corruption in the country, and it shed a different light on the religious and political divisions in Indian society. No wonder why some of the most famous quotes in the movie are, “There are only two ways to live life: Tolerate things the way they are… Or, take responsibility to change them.” Some fans even describe it as the ‘perfect film in every aspect’ and the ‘best movie ever made in Indian history’ and rightfully so. Sidharth very nicely portrayed the character of Karan R. Singhania.
Sidharth was so far able to capture the hearts of so many different people in India with his great portrayals in many hit films. Maha Samudram, where he will co-star with Sharwanand, is a great way for him to continue his successful career, and hopefully for all of us to return to our normal, post-Covid, enjoyment of movies, as soon as possible. Or at least, get lost in the world of the movies, until reality conforms to our wishes.
