PM Modi Initiates Fit India Movement on the Country’s National Sports Day

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, is going to launch a country-wide fitness movement, namely, “Fit India Movement” on the occasion of “National Sports Day.” The event will be inaugurated at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex location in the capital of the country, New Delhi.

During the event, the Prime Minister will pledge his support for the fitness of the countrymen. The sources suggest that people with the Press Association Business Card are allowed to attend the massive celebration of fitness in the country. From the very beginning, Mr. Modi has been an active promoter of fitness and sports culture in the country. The new initiative is the first step by Narendra Modi towards making India fit.

According to sources, the Fit India Movement would be broadcasted live between 10 AM to 11 AM on the 29th of August. The goal of the Prime Minister is to make physical activities part and parcel of the daily life of people.

PM Narendra Modi addressed the commencement of the movement during an episode of Mann Ki Baat on the 25th of August 2019. The Prime Minister did also urge the people of the country for visiting iconic places and also travel to different places across the country. In a recent statement, PM Modi said that he wants to see his countrymen fit and healthy.

The Significance of National Sports Day in India

The National Sports Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, a legendary hockey player. Under the leadership of Dhyan Chand, the country won three distinctive gold medals in the year 1928, 1936 and 1932.

Legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand also served in Indian Army and has more than 500 hockey goals attached to his name. When it comes to ball control, no one in the entire country and even the world does it better than Major Chand. The National Sports Day which takes place on the 29th of August 2019 marks the 114th birthday anniversary of Major Chand.
