When we talk about binge-watching a series, it would be unfair to mention the very spunky and light-hearted series that came last year on Netflix, Never Have I Ever. It was released on 27 April 2020 as a comedy-drama series with ten episodes and became an instant hit with more than 40 million viewers binging it. The characters became a household name, and the fans boundlessly poured their love for the coming-of-age high school flick.
The series was a typical high school drama and a remarkable representation of the South Asian community and culture in Hollywood and has been highly acclaimed for breaking Asian stereotypes. The series was loosely based on the life of the creator, Mindy Kaling, and her experiences growing up in the Boston area.
The series was delineated to be a fresh and energetic take on the genre and how amusingly honest it was. It had all the elements that a spectator would love to see in a high school drama, crushes, friendships, rivalry, family, insecurities, and a lot of confusion.
The series revolves around Devi Vishwakumar, an awkward Tamilian teen who wants to explore the high school life at Sherman Oaks along with her other two awkward friends, Fabiola and Ramona, all three of them being geeky nerds and kind of freaks. Things speed up when Devi confronts her crush, Paxton, the school’s heartthrob, asking him to sleep with her.

The series also shows profoundly the resplendent relationship between Devi and her father, who is no more, but Devi always reminisces on his memory.
Plot for Season 2:
Season 1 finale ended with Devi kissing Ben and her mother’s decision to move back to India, leaving the viewers with loaded questions and fan wars between team Paxton and team Ben. The fans were also dazzled about whether Devi would move back to India and are desperate to see her and other folks back at Sherman Oaks.
However, from the director, Lena Khan, we learned how Devi’s character is going to progress, transcending from a gawky, insecure high school girl to a more mature and chilled-out person. The show is also expected to have two new entries, Malcolm, a typical young Hollywood kind of guy who went to primary school with Devi but later got separated only to reconcile with her again in high school, and an Indian girl, Aneesa, a new student at the school who can be a possible threat to Devi.
Never Have I Ever Season 2 Release Date:
The season was announced for renewal back in 2020 only, two months after the first season’s release; however, the COVID situations made it difficult for the crew to continue the filming. Thus the release date kept getting delayed and postponed. Netflix has confirmed that season 2 will be coming soon, but no release date has yet been verified.
