A hit crime thriller, Mindhunter is currently making headlines for all wrong reasons. The series has earned 8.6/10 ratings on IMDb, 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 8.8/10 on TV.com. It has successfully run two seasons, receiving a strong positive response from both fans and critics. However, now it’s future seems uncertain.
The director of the series David Fincher has put the show on hold. He is currently overwhelmed with other projects and is too packed for Season 3. The Gone Girl creator, David’s current projects include his new feature film, Mark” which will release this year. The movie will explore the production of 1941’s Citizen Kan from the perspective of screenwriter Herman. The movie is starred with Gary Oldman in the title role, Amanda Seyfried and Lily Collins.
Fincher is also serving as the producer of cult-favorite animated series, “Love, Death, and Robots.”
When is Mindhunter Season 3 release date?
Mindhunter Season 3 will be released sometime in Fall 2021, this is if the show is renewed. Even if Mindhunter gets renewed right now, there is no way we will get it this year, because of the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, the show is indefinitely on hold because of the director, David Fincher, as he is focusing on his other projects right now.
This means, no renewal confirmed, however, he also mentioned that he will be looking forward to the show for another season after a while, but nothing as of now. Thus, we will have to just wait and watch for more developments to come out.

The lead cast crew of Mindhunter includes Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv. The stars of Mindhunter are released from their contracts governing the series so that they can pursue new projects if they wish to.
In this Netflix has officially briefed the media saying that Fincher may revisit the series in the future but he is exploring new work and hunting new grounds. So, it will be unfair to hold actors to this show.
