After a massive success with De De Pyaar De, Ajay Devgn is coming with sports drama movie titled ‘Maidaan’. Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidaan is going to be a film based on ‘The Golden Era Of Indian Football’.
The film is produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta and will be presented by Zee Studios. As the film is kicking off today, Ajay Devgn tweeted a poster with caption “#maidaankicksoff today!”

Ajay Devgn will be seen playing the role of India’s legendary Football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim in the film. So it is going to be yet another biopic in Bollywood. Biopics continue to be a trend and it is good to see untold stories being told.
The film will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma who is known for national award-winning 2018’s Badhaai Ho, which was one of the most loved and well-received films of 2018. Made with a budget of 29 crores, the film collected ₹221.44 crore at the box office.
Coming back Maidaan, the poster released today says “The Golden Era Of Indian Football. 1952 – 1962′. This means the film is going to deal with the events when the Indian football team won a Gold at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta and reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics when Syed was the coach.
It will be exciting to see how Ajay Devgn will be shown. Seeing him as a football coach will be another interesting part. Keerthy Suresh, who recently won the national award as best actress for Mahanati, is also going to be part of this project.
The dialogues of the film are written by Ritesh Shah. Screenplay is written by Saiwyn Quadros. The film will be hitting the screens in 2020. Stay tuned to our website for more updates.
