‘Mare of Easttown’ wouldn’t be the only television series that fans have seen end way too soon than it needs to be. The American crime drama series released its first season finale on May 30, 2021. Though the story ended quite conclusively, fans have been wanting to see more of Kate Winslet going through another spell of crime investigation.
The story revolves around a series of enigmatic events that occur in a small town near Philadelphia. Mare Sheehan, played by Kate Winslet, involves the mysterious murder cases while also trying to prevent her personal life from falling apart. As things get shadier, more inconclusive shreds of evidence pop up, making the community doubt the talented detective’s skills.
The season finale of ‘Mare of Easttown’ concluded touchingly with Mare having visited the attic where Kevin died. All the loose ends were tied up as the production team already knew that ‘Mare of Easttown’ would not return for a second season. But is it entirely impossible?
Will HBO renew ‘Mare of Easttown’ for a second season?
It pretty conclusive that ‘Mare of Easttown’ won’t be returning for a second season because the production team planned the show to be a mini-series even before filming began. This is why everyone ruled out the possibility of the show making a comeback.
However, it wouldn’t be the first time HBO has dug up the old bones in its closet. This was the case with shows such as ‘True Detective’ and ‘Big Little Lies. While they were initially put into the list of concluded shows, productions were revived as show writers could come up with creative content at a later point in time.
So it is best not to rule out hopes for the revival of ‘Mare of Easttown,’ but it will certainly not happen any time soon.
In fact, lead-star Kate Winslet stated in her recent press talk that she be delighted at the prospect of a second season. So with the support of fans and other cast members, we cannot rule ‘Mare of Easttown’ season 2 out.
