Well, this didn’t take long at all. After just two episodes into Season 3, HBO today confirmed that there will be a succession season 4!
For many out there, this renewal probably feels like a foregone conclusion. We’re talking about one of the network’s most popular shows, in addition to one that also has a huge cache of awards shows. It easily has a chance to stick around no matter how long the cast and crew want. We can’t imagine HBO ever wanting to end it on its own.
In a statement confirming the extension, here’s what Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming had to say:
“With each season of SUCCESSION, Jesse Armstrong has continued to exceed our wildest expectations, drawing us deeper into the sanctuary of the Roy family with indelible humor, humanity and precision. This season is no doubt no exception, and we couldn’t be more excited about everything that awaits us next season.”
We’ve heard Brian Cox (Logan) say in the past that he could see easily succession he’ll be on the air for at least a few more seasons, and while he’s not the one to make the final decision on that, at the very least, he could be hooked up to some of the long-term creatives.
The aim of this show should be to keep it going, however long it feels fresh. However, we think there should be a good successor soon, especially because otherwise you run the risk that every season is largely about the same.
What do you think of succession renewed for a season 4?
Be sure to share it now in the attached comments! Once you’ve done that, stay tuned – there are other updates on the way and we don’t want you to miss any.
