Everything We Know About the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show

For many Americans, the Super Bowl is one of the biggest days of the day, if not the biggest. Played on the second Sunday of February, it’s the National Football League’s annual playoff, and it always attracts massive viewing figures. Super Bowl LVI, which took place in 2022, was watched by 112.3 million NFL fans, for example.

What many people enjoy is the halftime show. This is a key part of every Super Bowl, and it usually dominates headlines and attracts a flurry of social media activity. Some of the biggest performers in the world have headlined Super Bowl halftime shows; many of them are well-known pop acts. Here’s everything we know so far about the halftime show for Super Bowl LVII.

Everything We Know About the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show

Performers

For the 2022 halftime show, a total of five acts took to the stage: Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Kendrick Lemar. Some of the performers for previous halftime shows include Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Shakira, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and Madonna.

Given the status and calibre of these names, it’s expected that the act or acts headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show will be just as impressive. As of August 2022, nothing’s been confirmed yet, but some rumours are swirling. Some of the many names that have been tossed about include Rihanna, Creed, Taylor Swift, Nickleback, and Drake.

The headlining acts will be confirmed closer to the time, as will further details about their performance. Whoever ends up performing, there’s no doubt that they’re going to put on a great show. After all, there’ll be a lot of pressure with more than a hundred million people watching.

Special Guests

Once the headliner’s been confirmed, there’s always speculation as to what special guests will be joining them for the show. For the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show, 50 Cent and Anderson Paak were the special guests.

The previous year didn’t have any – headliner The Weeknd commanded the show on his own. For the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in 2016, headliners Coldplay invited two previous performers – Bruno Mars and Beyonce – to join them for a portion of the show.

As well as big-name stars, local marching bands, choirs, and other musical acts have been featured as guests during halftime shows. However, none of these has been featured as guests since the 2019 show. The special guests for the 2023 show haven’t been announced, but hopefully, musical acts like marching bands will make a return.

Venue

Even though we don’t know who will be the halftime show act, we do know where it will take place. It’s been confirmed that Super Bowl LVII will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on 12 February. This is the third time this particular stadium has hosted a Super Bowl; the most recent was in 2015.
