The senior leader of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is no more in the world. The 67-year-old Sushma Swaraj passed away on the 6th of August, on Tuesday night, after suffering a heart attack.
According to the sources, when the BJP veteran suffered a cardiac arrest at her home, she was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) without any delay, at 9:50 p.m. in New Delhi. Her severe condition prompted the doctors in the hospital to take her to the emergency ward.
In the hospital, Sushma was attended by a team of five doctors and was reportedly treated at the NeuroCardio center of AIIMS.
With the news of the former minister’s passing away spreading like fire, Central ministers, opposition leaders, and many others also rushed to the AIIMS hospital. Senior BJP ministers i.e. Nitin Gadkari, Harsh Vardhan, and SS Ahluwalia were also present at AIIMS.
On the demise of Sushma Swaraj, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “An excellent administrator, Sushma Ji set high standards in every Ministry she handled. She played a key role in bettering India’s ties with various nations. As a Minister we also saw her compassionate side, helping fellow Indians who were in distress in any part of the world.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “I’m shocked to hear about the demise of Sushma Swaraj Ji, an extraordinary political leader, a gifted orator, and an exceptional Parliamentarian, with friendships across party lines. My condolences to her family in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”
Sushma’s last tweet on Twitter was about thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the government’s move on Kashmir stating that she was waiting for this day in her entire life.
The senior leader did not contest the recent Lok Sabha elections due to several health issues. She represented Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha.
