Bhoot Police becomes yet another film produced by Ramesh Taurani that is reportedly sold to a notable streaming platform. After the critically acclaimed sequel of Hungama, Hungama 2, Bhoot Police has become another film that will not see a theatrical release due to the second wave of COVID-19 in India.
The pandemic is causing widespread chaos everywhere, especially for the entertainment industry. Now many filmmakers are turning to OTT platforms to avoid shelving the projects they have dedicated more than a year to. For a couple of days, there have been several speculations that Taurani struck a deal with an OTT platform to release Bhoot Police.
Bhoot Police is officially heading to OTT platforms
Taurani has reportedly spoken to ETimes, saying that he had no other option. Moreover, Taurani clarified that the theatres aren’t going to open before November 2021. Even if the theatres are open, they will house 50% capacity. By that time, the film will suffer significantly.
According to Taurani, the way things are looking will take a very long time to go back to normal things. Also, the safety of the public is a crucial part of a time of crisis.
What did actors have to say about Taurani’s Decision?
Taurani revealed that he reportedly discussed with the film’s actors regarding its release on the OTT platform. The actors didn’t have any objection to the decision as waiting for theatres to open is not the right choice.
As Bhoot Police was supposed to release sometime in September 2021, it was wise to stick to the original plan. Bhoot Police is most likely to release on OTT platforms either in September or October 2021. The deal seems to be working out for Taurani, and he can’t reveal anything further to the public regarding the agreement.
The film features Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Saif Ali Khan.
