The American teen comedy television series, Betty which premiered its First Season on HBO on May 1, 2020, will soon be back with a Second Season. The series is based on a 2018 film by Crystal Moselle, ‘ Skate Kitchen,’ which revolves around a Gen Z all-girl group trying to create a mark in New York City. Season 1 of the show had received positive reception with a 96% rating by Rotten Tomatoes and nomination under the category of ‘ Breakthrough Series-Short Form’ by ‘Gotham Independent Film Awards.’
The renewal of the show for Season 2 was announced in June, and here we are with all the details regarding the Second Season.
Betty Season 2 Release Date:
HBO hasn’t announced any official release date for the show as of yet. The second season’s announcement came last June and considering the location where the show has to be filmed, i.e., New York City, It would have been troublesome for the show makers to start filming in the second half of 2020. Speculations could help us conclude that it may take some time before HBO announces the official premiere date. It could be expected by the last quarter of 2021 or early 2022.
Betty Season 2 Cast:
Season 1 had almost the same cast as the original movie, and there is little probability that any new faces would be included in the cast until and unless HBO makes any such casting announcement. The original cast includes Dede Lovelace as Janay, Nina Morgan as Kirt, Rachel Vinberg as Camille, Anjani Russell as Indigo, Reza Nader as Farouk, Katrina “Moonbear” Adams as Honeybear, Jules Lorenzo as Yvette, and Brenn Lorenzo as Celia.
Betty Season 2 Plot:
Betty follows a group of women who are trying to stand out in a male-dominated world of Skateboarding. Moselle, who is the show’s writer, had said that she would like to focus on cultural appropriation in the second season. So until an official synopsis is released, let’s guess the plot.
