Actor Salman Khan’s reality show “Bigg Boss 13” seems to be in a troublesome situation.
Nand Kishore Gujjar, a BJP MLA from Ghaziabad, has written a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javdekar demanding that the show should be banned as the “show was promoting obscenity and vulgarity and was unfit for family viewing”.
He said that the show is against the country’s cultural ethics and highly objectionable intimate scenes were a part of it. In different communities, couples were being made to become bed partners which were totally not acceptable.
In his letter, he wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on one hand, is trying to make India regain its lost glory and, on the other, such shows were demeaning the country’s culture.”
The BJP lawmaker also demanded a censor mechanism for content being premiered on television so that such incidents do not occur in the future.
He said that even children and minors watch television and have fair access to such shows which contain adult content. Moreover, the shows are available on the internet too.
The Brahmin Mahasabha has also sought an immediate ban on the reality show. He has submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Ghaziabad district magistrate.
Meanwhile, the president of the Uttar Pradesh Nav Nirman Sena, Amit Jani, has announced that he would not eat any food grain until the ‘Bigg Boss’ show was banned.
He said that he will survive only on fruits and vegetables until the government takes measures to ban the show. He also said that showing young couples sharing a bed on national television is not acceptable and it is really shocking that the RSS which claims to be our moral police, has not even noticed this.
The 13th season of the Bigg Boss has become very popular and has made celebrities of commoners as well.
