Assembly By-elections 2019 | Congress declares Puducherry, Assam and Chhattisgarh Candidates

For the by-elections at different locations, Congress has declared its candidates. There are a total of 6 seats from which four is in Assam, one in Chhattisgarh and one in Puducherry. The elections will be held on October 21. The list of candidates selected for the by-elections got approval from Sonia Gandi. Ratabari, Jania, Rangapara and Sonari are the locations where the by-polls will be held in Assam. While in Chattisgarh the elections have to be held at Chitrakot. On the same day in Puducherry, Kamaraj Nagar will have to conduct the election.

In Puducherry Kamaraj Constituency John Kumar is the candidate representing Indian National Congress. In Assam, the candidates are, Keshab Rajak for Ratanbari, Shamsul Hoque for Jania, Kartik Kurmi for Rangapara and Sushil Suri for Sonari. While Chitrakot seat of Chattishgarh is represented by Rajman Benzam from the side of Congress.

The final date to apply for the nominations of candidates is September 30. These candidates can withdraw from their nominations before October 3.

The election counting is scheduled for October 24 and the results will be declared on the day itself. Recently an election by-poll was won by Indian National Congress in Chattisgarh. In Dantewada Assembly, Congress’s Devti Karma won by a margin of 11,192 votes. She scored a sum of 50,028 votes while her rival from BJP Ojaswi Mandavi secured 38,836 votes. This election was held on September 23. There was a voting percentage of 60.59 per cent.

Other than these by-elections election is being held in Maharashtra and Haryana. By-elections are ongoing in Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh, etc.
