Arsenal could be the team to break Manchester City title dominance this season

Arsenal are top of the Premier League table after winning their opening three games of a campaign for the first time since 2004-05, and while it is still early days, instead best online casino are offering odds of 9/5 for Arsenal to finish in the 2022/23 Premier League top four.

The North Londoners last won the English top-flight title in 2003-04 and last qualified for the Champions League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

It has not been smooth sailing for Arsenal for almost two decades, and winning five FA Cups since their last title just cannot mask the pain.

However, things appear to be finally starting to fall into place under manager Mikel Arteta, and every Arsenal fan secretly hopes and dreams the club can still be on top of the league at the end of matchday 38.

Over the last four seasons, the battle for the Premier League top prize has majorly been between Manchester City and Liverpool, with the duo finishing in the top-two in three of the last four campaigns.

The Reds have won the title once, while the Citizens have landed it four times out of the last five terms.

The duo are the teams to beat as far as having a chance at a shot at the title goes, and Arsenal have what it takes to give them a run for their money.

Jurgen Klopp’s side might even slip out of the top-two this season following a winless start to the campaign.

The Anfield side have drawn two and lost one so far, and while things should improve once their injured players start returning to action, recovering from the loss of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich could take a long time.

Despite their attacking riches, with Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez joining from Benfica and Portuguese attacker Fabio Carvalho arriving from Fulham, Liverpool are just not the same without the Senegalese forward, and that could be good news for Arsenal.

The Gunners have signed Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus and Ukrainian full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City, Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto, American goalkeeper Matt Turner from New England and Brazilian winger Marquinho from Sao Paulo, and the first two have already hit the ground running, both having hands in six goals.

Additionally, William Saliba has returned to Arteta’s squad as a better and more experienced centre-back after loan spells at Saint-Etienne, OGC Nice and Marseille.

One or two players could still be added to the squad before the summer transfer window shuts, but the current squad looks capable of taking this side to the next level.

Arteta named an unchanged starting XI for the opening three games, and that yielded impressive victories against Crystal Palace (2-0), Leicester City (4-2) and Bournemouth (3-0).

While he will not always have the luxury of naming the same team every game, there is quality depth in this squad that he can always rely on, with those not in the first-team more than ready to make their mark and convince the manager whenever being beckoned on.

While piping Liverpool to a top-two finish is ideally possible, at least from the current look of things, the question remains whether Arsenal can really stop Man City from bagging a third straight title.

Pep Guardiola’s side kicked off the new season with a 2-0 win over West Ham United and a 4-0 shellacking of Bournemouth.

However, they had to come from two goals down to leave Newcastle United with a point last weekend.

An impressive comeback no doubt, but clearly, the defending champions have their weaknesses, and teams will attempt to exploit them once again this season.

To become league champions, Arsenal will need to do it all by themselves without having to rely on other teams taking points off Man City, though.

There are still 35 games to play this season, and consistency is key for any team that wants to win the title.

Tipping the Gunners to win the league is not something the most faithful of their fans would boldly do, but this could be the season everything finally clicks or starts to click.

The North London side play Fulham, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Everton and Brentford in their next five games before clashes against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City, and how they fare over the course of the next nine matchdays would have a huge effect on their campaign.
