While India battles the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak, OTT platforms are again in the spotlight, as people who are forced to stay at home lean on them for entertainment. Our weekly recommendation on Indian OTT platforms has a lot of new launches this week as well. The biggest draw is Saina, a biopic about the iconic badminton star. Then there’s Telugu’s Wild Dog, an action film starring superstar Nagarjuna from the south. Keeping in the Region, there’s Roberrt, a Kannada film. Also, Chaavu Kaburu Challaga, a Telugu-language romantic comedy-drama film released in 2021.
To start with, watching such massive blockbuster movies on streaming sites from the comfort of your own homes is always a treat.

Storyline: In March of this year, Roberrt was released on the big screen. A peace-loving Brahmin cook at a South Indian catering service in Lucknow is the subject of the novel. The cook shares his home with his son, who is contrary to his father. In his bravado, the son falls into trouble with a wealthy gangster. To defend his son, the silent father is forced to adopt a belligerent avatar. It’s a fascinating tale filled with action and adventure.

Cast:Nagarjuna Akkineni, Saiyami Kher, Dia Mirza, and Atul Kulkarni
Storyline: The story was a dramatized version of the real-life terrorist Yasin Bhatkal’s arrest in Nepal in 2013. The National Investigating Agency commandos tackle the case in the film. The film is a straightforward adventure thriller that jumps right into the plot. The players don’t have lengthy backstories. As the film switches to Nepal, it picks up speed before ending in a dramatic climax sequence.

Chaavu Kaburu Challaga
Cast: Kartikeya Gummakonda, Lavanya Tripathi
Storyline:As he goes to take the mortal remains of her husband to the cemetery, Basti Balaraju (Kartikeya Gummakonda), the owner of a hearse, falls for a widow, Mallika (Lavanya Tripathi). She so takes him that he proposes to marry her shortly after her husband’s funeral.
Cast: Parineeti Chopra, Manav Kaul
Storyline: This is the true story of Saina Nehwal, India’s top badminton player, who rose to the top of the world rankings at one point. Saina’s upbringing, her marked increase in the game, and her move from Haryana to Hyderabad, where she meets the instructor who will change her life, are all depicted in the film. Her hardships and triumphs are shown in the movie. It’s a moving account of a sports personality’s intimate and professional life.
